The Act of Cutting Away follows a trans student, struggling with getting gender affirming care, they turn to a classmate who participates in sketchy operations. Hayden Celentano's film touches on modern themes through the lens of horror, particularily inspired by the series Hannibal. The film's sound oozes with detuned screeches of synthesizer and reverb laden dreamscapes, cuts are punchy, screams are chilling. The sound is all created in effort to bring the viewer into the protagonist, Roland's, head.
