SAMPLES OF FILM AVALIABLE UPON REQUEST

Majorette follows Emma, a baton twirler at a competition who becomes aware a younger twirler, Wesley, is in a simalar abusive relationship with their coach as Emma. The film was written and directed as my close friend, Kate Ohlweiler's senior thesis; I was fortunate enough to be involved the whole way through. I was the on set sound mixer in August of 2024 through the five day shoot. I later did the foley as well as all the sound mixing for the film. I composed the score primarily out of strings; as I didn't have access to an orchestra I opted to use a mix of VST instruments and myself playing an electric violin. This way I could retain control of an orchestra amount of strings through the VSTs for pads and washes of chords whereas my own playing would add texture and nuance to the leads, the varying tambres intended to make the VSTs sound more real. Some tracks like Emma for Dirty Strings were entirely layers of my own playing as it added an intimate and eerie quality. Trimming for Sampler begins with a sample of Stars and Stripes, a rendition Kate heard over and over as a twirler in her youth, being warped and distorted as it drones on behind the film.
